Waiouru Ward council
Murray Fitchett, Sue Rodger No profiles have been received from the above candidates. Robert (Bob) Vine
Bob Vineis standing for a third term on the Ruapehu District Council. I have served the last six years as councillor representing the Waiouru Ward. I arrived in Waiouru November 1957 to serve a motor mechanic appren-
ticeship behind the original Mobil garage. After working for Wanganui Aero Works in Wanganui for 12 months and for the Waiouru Ministry of Works for 18 months, I enlisted in the New Zealand Army in 1963, serving 20 years and retiring in the rank of Major RNZEME. For many years I served with the Waiouru Lions Club giving voluntary and financial assistance to our community. Within the present new form of local government, Waiouru has the opportunity of Ruapehu District Council representation and it is imperative this status is maintained. I understand there are many areas of concern r.
within local government, but major concerns of adequate medical services and coverage, and the development of better and safer state highways and rural roads — areas outside local government financial capabilities must be taken up by central government. I believe the efforts of your Ward Committee and Councillors have developed Waiouru to a much more attractive township compared to six years ago.
