On Sunday 17 September the club was lucky to have the heavy rains stop an hour before tee off in the Karioi Grain sponsored mens and ladies 36 hole stroke play tournament. Entries came from as far away as Foxton to play in this popular event with some good scores taking away excellent prizes. Results seniors: best gross; R Sisson (Taihape) 152; runner up D Bensfln (Wanganui) 161. Best nett: B Drinkwater (Waimarino) 137; runner up A Condon (Wai) 140; 2nd runner up N Lietz (Wai) 140. 18 hole stableford: 1 J Ennis 39; 2 P Goldfinch 36. Juniors best gross: J Hammond 170; runner up T Geraghty 174. Best nett: G Lind 142; runner up S Gray 142; 2nd runner up A Murdie Snr 143. 18 hole stableford: 1 M Lloyd 39; 2 L Akapita (T aupo) 36. Ladies best gross: P Mcllroy 175; runner up A Barrett 176. Best nett: G White 137; runner up N Winter 1 41 ; 2nd runner up L Drinkwater 141. 18 hole stableford: 1 V Johns 40; 2 S Lind 39. Longest drive seniors: J Summerhays (Wang); juniors: L Akapita; ladies: S Lind. Nearest the pin: B Henry. Special prize: The tree iron went to Pania Mowat.
