Off the mountain, the action really hots up with the Powderhorn Chateau Casino Night on Friday. There'll be about eight gaming tables, funny money, and a blind auction at the end of the night with proceeds going to the Substance Abuse Education Trust. On Saturday, Ohakune goes to town with the annual Carrot Festival and Parade. There'll be heaps of competitions with lots especially for the kids, retail specials, food & craft stalls, music, marching girls and the grand parade from the Big Carrot then around the shopping streets. Saturday night seas Ohakune Junction come alive with the Lion Ice Mardi Gras. In addition to the normal live music and entertainment in the bars, nightclubs and restaurants, there'll be street music and entertainment, a fireworks display, ferris wheel and much much more!
