Waimarino’s carrot fun time again this month

The Ravensdown Carrot Festival on Sat urday 30 September should be a day of family fun and festivity for everyone. From 10am there will be stalls of all sorts in the main street of Ohakune, plus marching girls, pipe bands, local country and western bands, a tepee, a police dog display and a New Zealand Army stall. Craftsmen and women, entertainers, clowns and buskers are coming from all around the central North Island to help the Waimarino celebrate the

annual carrot festival. Through out the day competitions with a carrot flavour for both children and adults will be run. At 1pm the grand parade will commence. Starting from the Big Carrot by the Mangateitei Stream bridge the grand parade will include floats from anyone wishing to participate in the parade, carrot growers' machinery , trucks from transport companies and a strong presence from the retailers. Glenys Shepherd who is the secretary of the

retailers association is organising the festival and she urges everyone to come along and make it the best carrot festival ever. This years Ohakune Carrot Carnival has attracted the sponsorship of Ravensdown Fertiliser Co-op Limited. The Carrot Carnival has been a major highlight for the community over recent years putting it well and truly on the map. Ravensdown' s Waimarino Field Officer, Steph Rollinson said that Ravensdown Fertiliser are

pleases to lift its profile in the area by being associated with this community project. The cOmpany also realises the Carrot Carnival attracted significant local interest and this was an excellent opportunity to support and work together with its growers and shareholders. Steph Rollinson said Ravensdown Fertiliser has a long term commitment to the area and realises its success depends on growing its support throughout the region.
