Continental Cup-A-Soup FIS Spring Series

The highlight of the ski racing calendar at Whakapapa will undoubtedly be the Continental Cup-a-Soup FIS Spring Series scheduled for 13 to 17 September. The race series incorporates two slalom races and the Haensli Cup Giant Slalom. All of New Zealand 's top ski racers and several overseas skiers are expected to attend the event. The Whakapapa Ski Team will be entering approximately 18 racers in the three races and after a very successful trip down south their Head Coach, Chris Mosaed is expecting some good results.

Ski Racing in New Zealand is going from strength to strength with the formation of a national body, Ski Racing New Zealand Inc. to coordinate and promote alpine events. "We are thrilled to be hosting the final race in the FIS Series here at Whakapapa," said Scott Lee, Marketing Manager for Whakapapa. "We have been fortunate to secure a major sponsor, Continental Cup-a-Soup, which is veiy appropriate since the series is actually part of the Continental Cup international circuit."
