I, Keith WP Wood hereby declare (on behalf of Winstone Pulp International) an follows: 1 . Winstone Pulp International is an eligible landholder in respect of the areas sufficiently described in the schedule hereto. 2. We intend to apply to the Ruapehu District Council as Fire Authority on 30th September 1 995 for these areas to be registered as Forest
Areas under section 17 of the Forest and Rural Fires Act 1977. 3. Further particulars required by the Act are set out in the schedule below. 4. Any reasonable objections should be received by the Fire Authority (Ruapehu District Council) by 30 September 1 995. 5. Copies of this notice have been supplied to every other affected landholder (whether eligible or not) and to the Fire Authority.

SEASONAL NOTICE OF FOREST AREA RESTRICTIONS
(Form 6) Section 17(7)(c) Forest and Rural Fires Act 1977 Regulation 20 (2) The rights and duties pertaining under the Forest and Rural Fires Act 1977 to the Forest Area sufficiently described in the Schedule thereto (including the fire safety margin thereof) Will Dontinue to apply for the period of 12 months from 30 September of this year. The effect of this notice is set out in the Schedule. Schedule Section 17 (5) Reg. 20 (3) NAME OF FOREST AREAS; Karioi Forest and Waimarino Forest LOCALITY: Karioi Forest is generally within the area bounded by State Highway 49, Rangataua Forest, Mt Ruapehu and the Whanganui River. Waimarino Forest is generally between the Raetihi Pipiriki Road and the Manganui-A-Te-Ao River.
Forest and Rural Fires Act 1 977 Notice to Landholders in The Karioi & Waimarino Forest areas and fire safety margins Winstone Pulp International Limited has recently advertised a Seasonal Notice of Forest Area Restrictions. This Notice has the effect that the Forest Areas known as Karioi Forest Area and Waimarino Forests, and the Fire Safety margins, are specified as having restricted fire seasons for 12 months from 30 September 1 995. PERMIT REQUIRED TO LIGHT FIRES IN OPEN AIR Every person commits and offence against the Forest and Rural Fires Act 1977 who sets on fire, or assists to set on fire, or causes to be set on fire, or aids, abets and assists in setting on fire in the open air any vegetation or any other combustible material whatsoever except pursuant to an authority or permit from a Fire Officer for the Forest Areas. Persons wishing to light fires in the open-air within the Karioi and Waimarino Forest Areas, and the fire safety margins, can obtain a permit from: • Winstone Pulp International Ltd, State Highway 49, Karioi - Phone 06 385 8545 KW Wood, Senior Fire Officer Phone 06-385-8928 RESPONSIBILITIES: Winstone Pulp International Limited has the authority for the Forest Areas and fire safety margins, is responsible for: Fire protection (subject to any directions by the Ruapehu District Council and for the administration of the Forest and Rural Fires Act as it pertains to the Forest Areas and the fire safety margins. The Company does not take those responsibilities lightly and intends to enforce the Forest and Rural Fires Act 1 977 where necessary to prevent unlawful fire lighting and damage to the assets of the Company and of landholders within the Forest Areas and safety margins. We expect the co-operation of landholders and the public living in, working in or travelling through the district in carrying out the responsibilities. UNAUTHORISED ENTRYs The Forest and Rural Fire Regulations 1979 deem it an offence for any person to knowingly and wilfully enter or remain in any exotic forest without a written permit or, being a permit holder, fails to observe the conditions in the permit. The Company hereby gives warning that it will take all necessary steps to enforce this provision of the Regulations. ASSISTANCE; Winstone Pulp International Limited personnel are available to advise affected landholders on their land clearing activities and in the planning of burning operations. Copies of the plan and application may be inspected at: 1 . Office of Fire Authority, Ruapehu District Council, Miro Street, Ohakune. 2. Winstone Pulp International Limited, State Highway 49, Karioi. Effect of Registration: 1 . No open air fires may be lit at any time of the year within the Forest Areas or the fire safety margins around it except by Fire Authority Permit
2. The Forest Area Owner is responsible for fire protection and fire signs in the areas and margins. 3. During August, the Owner personally notifies all Landholders in the Forest Areas and margins that these requirements apply for a further year, and advertises accordingly. 4. Fire spread or escape of engine sparks, etc, into the areas or margins are offences. 5. Rural Fire Mediators settle any disputes. 6. Forest area registration is renewable every five years.
