Step inside a video game
If you want to experience a sense of virtual reality be at Turoa Lodge on Tuesday (tonight) or the Powderkeg Wednesday and Thursday night. Virtual reality is the latest craze in the States where some pubs have their own virtual reality machines. According to Richard Banks account manager at New Zealand Wines and Spirits, "people are screaming out for it whereever it's been in New Zealand so far." Virtual reality occurs when you put on a mask that transports you into a three dimensional video game world. When the mask is on you' 11 find yourself facing an opponent who you have to chase and shoot, the movements you actually make are picked up by sensors on the platform you're standing on, and your virtual opponent will react according to your actual movements. The images the participant is seeing are transmitted on a television screen for everyone to see. According to Richard the whole experience is very realistic and extremely addictive.
