Five injured in Miro St crash

Two patients were flown to Wanganui Base Hospital by air ambulance on Saturday afternoon after a two-vehicie crash in Miro Street at about 4.30pm. An 11-year-old passenger of the van involved in the crash was suffering

from a fractured femur and the other, the male dri ver of the van, suffered back and leg injuries. Three other patients were transported to hospital by road, the driver of the Mazda (pictured at left) suffering a dislocated hip. The out-of-town driver of the car is to be charged with various traffic offences, said police. They added that they would like to talk to any other witnesses of the crash. The Bulletin understands high-speed is suspected as the cause of the accident. Witnesses said they heard the car travelling at very high speed north along Miro Street. In another crash a Commodore slid off a bridge on Whangaehu Valley Road on Sunday afternoon, landing upside down in the river.
