Junior badminton
On Saturday 1 9 August a large number of Ohakune junior badminton players travelled to Wanganui to play in the Wanganui junior residential championships. The Ohakune players did very well, taking out mostof the under- 1 2 games and all the under- 16 girls titles. Results were: Under12 - Ema Bates, singles champion/doubles champion; Vicki Cranston, singles champion/doubles champion/mixed doubles champion; Nolana Marsh, singles plate winner/mixed doubles runner-up; Rebecca Lind, singles plate runnerup; Cory Saunders, singles runner-up/doubles champion; Ben McMaster, singles plate winner/doubles champion. Under-14 - Dwayne Marsh, singles plate run-ner-up. Under- 16 - Donna Cranston, singles cham-
pion/doubles champion/ mixed doubles runner-up; Eileen Voon, singles run-ner-up/doubles champion/ mixed doubles champion; Katrina Marsh, singles plate winner/doubles runner-up; Jenny Murdie, singles plate runner-up; Cathy Cranston, doubles runner-up. There will be no more junior badminton until 1 1 September 6pm due to the gymnasiutti having repairs done to it, followed by a final night on 1 8 September and prize-giving. The under- 16 rep girls are now wearing a new uniform and are looking very smart thanks to a donation from the Ohakune Sports Charity, Hotel Fund.
