o LOCAL AUTHORITY ARTS SCHEME The Council is presently investigating entering into an agreement with Creative New Zealand to take part in the Local Authority Arts Scheme (LAAS). Under LAAS Council will distribute funding from Creative New Zealand to local arts projects and activities. It is planned that an Assessment Committee will be set up to allocate grants within the Ruapehu District. Representation from the southern wards will be required on the Assessment Committee, In the absence of a Community Arts Council in the Waimarino and Waiouru Wards Council would like to receive submissions from the community. A report considered at the Council meeting on I I August I995 is available for perusal at the Ohakune and Raetihi Service Centres.
