College players to Christchurch for squash

A group of Ruapehu College squash players (pictured) travelled to Taumarunui last week to play in the national secondary schools championships. Coach John Laurenson said he was very pleased with the boys' results. It was pleasing to see they were probably about half way in the field of 24 schools entered. Next year the event will be held in Palmerston North. With both Darren and Jason likely to have left there is an opening for the juniors to come through. A girls' team will also be entered next year. Secondary School Squash results: Round 1 Ruapehu College vs Christ's College: Darren Triggel bt Hamish Rhodes ; Jason Bright bt Jeremy Fisher; Daniel Forster bt Hewart Brown; Greg Tuthill bt Adam Neylon; Shane Thrupp bt Nick Bobilliard. A win to Ruapehu 5/0 Round 2: Darren Triggell lost M Anderson; Jason Bright lost L Anderson; Daniel lost F Small; Greg Tuthill lost R Small; Shane Thrupp lost B Martin. A win to St Pauls Collegiate 5/0. Round 3: Darren Triggell bt Brendon Hughes; Jason Bright lost Corey Gooch; Daniel Forster lost Scott Linklater; Greg Tuthil lost Danny Phillips; Shane Thrupp lost Bradly Stevens. A win to Palmerston North Boys.
