Ohakune Police arrested a local man for assault on a female and possession of cannabis last week. He appeared in the Wanganui District Court on 21 August to face charges. • A local man and a man from Auckland were arrested on four charges each of assault with a weapon. They will both be appearing in the Ohakune Distdct Court next month to face charges. • Another man will be appearing in court to answer two charges of vehicle theft and unlawfully interfering with a motor vehicle. • Police dealt with several people for various vehicle related offences, including driving while disqualified, and dangerous driving. • An Auckland man was arrested on 20 August, for breaking into a vehicle parked outside Ski Life Lodge. Property taken from the vehicle by the offender was later recovered. • Several people were warned by Police, for smoking cannabis at the Ohakune Junction during the weekend of 18-20 August 1995. • Ohakune Police warned three Auckland men for intentional damage of an Ohakune chalet on 20 August 1995. The offenders who were on their way back to Auckland, were retumed to Ohakune and ordered to pay $400 for damages. • A 21 -year old Wellington woman was warned for disorderly behaviour after being located by Police, walking down Mangawhero Terrace in an intoxicated state on 19 August. • A local woman was fortunate to escape with no injuries after the car she was driving collided with a cattle beast on Tohunga road on Sunday night. Extensive damage was caused to the vehicle. • Three Wellington youths residing locally for the August school holiday period, were warned by Ohakune Police for use of cannabis on 20 August. • A tool shed at the rear of a Queen Street, Raetihi, property was broken into sometime over the weekend, with various tools including a chainsaw and skilsaw stolen. Police enquiries are continuing.
