Support for Victim Support
The Waimarino victim support organisation got a little support themselves this week. The Raetihi Country Women 's Institute, have been busy making hot- water bottle covers and last week they were able to present the covers and the hot- water bottles to go with them. Judy Tod and Dorothy McNie, from the institute, made the presentation to Mrs Koebi Hart, the supports co-ordinator, last Monday. The support group is made up of a number of volunteers who are available on arostered system 24 hours a day, all year round. Support and assistance given or rather offered, ranges from counselling victims of accident, fire, trauma, earthquake, flooding, violence and many other situations. Recently, three women from Raetihi completed training in Taupo and were part of alarger group of people who attended a graduation service in the council chambers of the Ruapehu office. The Mayor, Garrick Workman, presented the certificates.
