Overnight 08/09 August a pair of Koflach boots and a pair of Atomic skis were stolen from the verandah of ski accommodation in the Ohakune Junction area. At about 9.30pm on the 9th of August Dekker Machinery in Seddon Street, Raetihi was burgled when offenders cut a hole through a rear door. Some property was removed from a display before the burglar alarm was activated and the offender decamped. Between 6pm and 9.30pm on 10 August a car parked on Miro Street, Ohakune, was broken into and a quantity of property removed. Later the same evening a car parked in Thames Street, Ohakune, was also entered and some clothing taken. At about 12.30am on the 11th August offenders attempted to take an older model Cortina from a Raetihi address. The vehicle was pushed out onto the road before neighbours disturbed the offenders who decamped. At about 1am the same morning a Honda motor bike was unlawfully taken from the rear of the Turoa Ski Lodge in Thames Street, Ohakune. Between 6pm and 6.30pm on 1 1 August a Husqvarna chainsaw was stolen from the rear of a truck parked outside the Wellington Cafe in Seddon Street, Raetihi. Overnight on the 11/12 August a 1981 Ford Escort, coloured white, registration number KG 6097 was unlawfully taken from where it had been parked, opposite the Powderkeg on Mangawhero Terrace, Ohakune. At 1 0.30pm on 1 2 August a 1 6 year old local youth was arrested after being caught breaking into and removing property from a vehicle parked in the Cedar Mall car park, Clyde Street, Ohakune. On 12 August at about 2pm a 25 year old man from Auckland was arrested and charged with unlawfully taking a skidoo from the Turoa Ski Resort base area and subsequently during the same vehicle in a dangerous manner.
