Quiz night held for Jamboree

Twenty teams braved atrocious weather to participate in the Ohakune Scout Quiz Night recently, to help raise funds for those scouts who plan to attend the Jamboree in Fiordland at Christmas. As usual all teams entered the spirit of the occasion and everybody seemed to enjoy themselves, said organisers. The competitive nature of some teams was shown when the quizmaster gave the answer to one of the questions, ('Eva Gabor' was the correct answer) but the judges decision was final, citing the poster that says "I'm not always right, but I am always the boss". The Waimarino Winos, who changed their name to Le Grande Dames halfway through the night, came through in the final round to win the event. Frances Wharry, Gail Rumble, Di Pritt and Trish Smart were the winning team. The Short Fuses scored only five points in the final round, allegedly due to a technical malfunction when their pen ran out of ink, to again take second place. Third team was Diddley Squat, the only team to score a perfect 10. The bag of minties for 20th place went, appropriately, to The Dumbos. No names but they can be seen at golf most Sundays. Does Uranus have an aurora? No, but it does have an aroma! According to Trustbank staff. (Actually it does!).
