Class goes to work

Fourth form students have recently been trading their books for the world of work. The work experience programme aims to give the pupils many varied and interesting opportunities to find out first hand just what it is like in the work force and to gain some kind of idea as to the career they may wish to seek when they leave school. It also gives the students a chance to

meet other people, learn some public relations skills and gain some self-confi-dence as well as learning to work with other people. One of the pupils, Shantayne Rihia, has been working at prices Pharmacy in Raetihi. Sarah Deighton, who manages the pharmacy, said that Shantayne worked well with the staff learning to deal with the public, general saies skills and stocking shelves.
