U21 rugby

The Ruapehu U21 rugby team beat Wanganui Pirates by 18-3 on Saturday at Raetihi. Played in bitter cold conditions this game was shortened to 30 minutes each way because the delays in Pirates arriving due to road closures. The win means Ruapehu go into the final for the J2 Cup to be played in a fortnight. Tries were scored by Craig Pye 2 Pierre Todd 1, Chris Winter kicked a penalty . Player of the day was Steve Dowman. Ruapehu now have a chance of finding their first season with two cups as they have already won the Northern Wanganui Cup.
