Architect soon, this time
John Achari from Urban Design Associations of Wellington will be in the Waimarino area during the last week of July as part of the consultancy phase of Winning Waimarino's Ohakune Raetihi Urban Design Project. In response to the Mainstreet Campaign jointly funded by the Ruapehu District Council and the Community Employment Group in 1994 a design consultancy for the township of Ohakune and Raetihi were called for. 'This project was expected to be weli under way in late '94," says Sue Allomes, mainstreet' s coordinator. 'The hold-up was due to aerial maps and codestrals not being available, hence this material had to be sourced first. Hopefully the project is now off to a flying start". Material collected in public meetings during 1994 has been passed on to John Achari. However if community members are interested in having a further say they are asked contact Mainstreet coordinators Sue Allomes on 385 8799
