Cemetery reports
Investigation reports on the Ohakune Cemetery were requested by the Waimarino Community Board at their Thursday meeting. At issue is the Returned Services Association section of the cemetery. The board heard that there has been some discussion between the council' s area engineer and the acting president of the RS A, and called for a report on this meeting as well as on the future extensions to the cemetery. Progress report Other matters were reported on to the Waimarino Community Board through the monthly progress feport. • The Raetihi Water Supply , Seddon Street main contract was awarded to Ruapehu Construction Limited in late April. The Contract is now complete and was "undertaken to a high standard of workmanship", according to the report. Provision under the contract also included updated water facilities to the new Waimarino Health Centre. • The bridge maintenance program of 1994/95 for Waimarino was nearing completion, including the Turn to Page 11
Progress report
From Page 9 maintenance overhaul of the Hoihenga Suspension Bridge which will require a structural re-survey to ascertain its new gross loading. The programme also includes work on the Makotuku Bridge, Raetihi which aims to keep the bridge serviceable until a suitable upgrade or replacement program is approved. The only bridge outstanding from this year' s maintenance program is the Ruapehu Road rail overhead bridge which has been waiting for a main line power shut down. As this has not happened, the bridge will now have the new deck fitted in the 1995/96 .year, concluded the report. • Due to the deterioration in the bridge structure the Jubilee Park footbridge has been temporarily closed pending a report on its state.
