• Power was cut to a large number of houses in the eastern Ohakune/Karioi area on Saturday evening aftera vehicle slammed into a power pole approximately 5km south of Ohakune shortly after 5pm. Ohakune Police and emergency services were called to the accident that occurred on Raetihi Road near the substation. Police say the driver of the vehicle lost control on what is a straight piece of road, careered into a farmer's fence and carried on to
collide with the power pole. Neither the driver nor the passenger - both Raetihi people - received injuries. The driver subsequently underwent drink-driving procedures, the results of which will be known later in the week. • Police are investigating the theft of a video camera that was stolen from a locked car parked outside the Ohakune Hotel, on Sunday 2 July. Enquiries into the theft are continuing. • Investigations are also continuing into the burglary
of a Rimu Street, Ohakune, house between 9pm and midnight on Sunday 2 July. A large amount of clothing was stolen from the premises. • Waiouru police are reminding people to lock their cars. ConstableEddieBaker said groceries were stolen out of a station wagon parked in the rear museum car park on 17 June. The theft occurred in the middle of the day. Constable Baker said people should keep valuables covered or tucked under a seat and lock vehicles even if they are only left for a few minutes.
