Fish and game move
Ruapehu District Councillors last Friday formalised a recommendation from the Waimarino Community Board that the Ruapehu Fish and Game Club formerly situated in the historic Acclimatisation Society building in Duncan Street, Raetihi, be re-located to a leased area of the Council's Agency property in Seddon Street, Raetihi, and that the Acclimatisation Society building be donated to the Ruapehu District Council. Among the conditions under which the donation of the building was accepted were provisions relating to costs involved in re-siting and maintenance as well as a "sunset clause". Councillors Bob Peck and John Compton both suggested that the 'Winning Waimarino' Mainstreet committee be made aware of the potential of the Acclimatisation
Society building, already relocated to Seddon Street next to the council agency and the Raetihi Museum.
