St John's chairman promises community input into Ambulance base decision
Waimarino' s St John Ambulance Service committee has not announced the sites it is looking at for a new Waimarino ambulance base because no list has yet been drawn up, committee chairman Bob Peck told the Builetin last week. A press statement from the committee published last week said the committee would be looking at sites within the next few weeks, but Mr Peck said the final decision would not be made for some time.
He said a number of sites had been offered or suggested but that the committee is yet to even start considering them. "It's a brand-new committee and it's only just organised itself." He said the decision would involve community input and that this would in fact be very important as there would need to be local fund raising support for the project. Mr Peck said the site needed to be chosen "for the right reasons".
