Ohakune junior badminton

Donna Cranston was named into the Wanganui Division Two team along with Eileen Voon in the Wanganui Division Four team. The Wanganui Division Two team won their one match against a highly rated Manawatu team 10/6. The Division four team travelled to the Hutt Valley and lost their two games 4/12, 2/14. Eileen picked up two singles wins. The Wanganui Under 1 6 rep team travelled to Palmerston North on 11 June to play in the Central Districts teams competition. Local players included: Donna and Cathy Cranston, Eileen Voon and Jenny Murdie. Wanganui won against Hutt Valley 2, 1 1/5 and composite team 11/5 and lost against Ororua 5/ 11. The highlights were: Jenny Murdie winning all three singles; Eileen winning against a highly ranked Ororua rep; and Donna upsetting the opposition by playing in the boys number one position and winning two out of three singles against the top boys. The next games are at Hutt Valley Open on 18 June followed by W anganui Junior Open on 1 July.
