Clechés menu
reviewed
The recent re-launch of Cleches Restaurant was held last week, with many an appreciative palate sampling the new extensive and imaginative menu. Having ordered a bottle of New Zealand wine from the new wine list, I sat back to study the menu. I decided on the Lamb Fillets to start, while my guest tried the Soup of the Day which was Ministrone. Without much delay they arrived. Two large slices of lamb were beautifully presented on a bed of rice with a minty cream sauce - and were devine. The Minestrone was so thick it almost needed a knife and folk. We both
thought it best not to fill up on this as the night had just begun! Mains came next
with our orders of Chicken Marsala and Stag Wild again being beautifully presented and very tasty. Both served with a huge marque potato Vegetables came in a classy side-dish for two. Then, although my this time I was exceptionally full, I decided to order dessert! The traditional Pavlova was the choice and was served with a side serving of real cream - not from a can, and although it seemed that I had a whole Pavlova to myself, I did manage to finish. While all this indulging was going on, our waitress was discretely checking the levels of the drinks and removing finished plates. My official rating is excellent. I can't wait to go again and try some of the other mains.
