Raetihi dump improved
Improved management of the Raetihi rubbish dump is expected now that the construction of a bund wall at the dump is complete. The works are designed to enable the refuse to be contained in a smaller area and regularly be compacted and covered. The improved compaction and covering would assist in controlling litter, vermin and leaching, claims the council in their latest press statement. The Ruapehu District Council calls for public cooperation to enable the site to operate well. Dump users are 1 required to deposit their refuse over the tipping face to assist in keeping the turning circle free of refuse and mud. Future planned improvements at the site includes the planting of a shelter belt at the northern boundary.
