Raetihi garden club grows well
The annual meeting of the Raetihi Garden Club was held at the Waimarino Club on Thursday, 25 May, with 20 members present, some of them welcome new gardening enthusiasts. The president's report reflected the club's varied programme of learning, hands-on experience and fun that was a feature of last year's activities. The club's yearly points prizes were presented by past president Locheen Punch, and were won by Lynley Graham with Judy Tod coming second and Bev Hiscox third. As the club' s finances are in a healthy state, $600 has been spent on new vases for the spring and rose shows, where members have been doing well. The organisation for this year' s spring show has already
begun. It will be held on 23 September to coincide with Raetihi 's market day. The new committee are: Lynley Graham, president; Catherine Brown, vice president; Dawn Harper, secretary; Adrienne Maru, treasurer; Jackie Fraser, copy for the Bulletin; Keitha Journeaux, collation of newspaper cuttings, Jean Fredericksen, Glenys Fowlie and Elaine Billet. The next meeting of the club is to be held at Dorothy Scarrow's home in Valley Road, Raetihi on Thursday, 22 June. There will be a pot luck lunch for members who are able to arrive at 12 midday and Adrienne Maru will be demonstrating competition presentation at 1 p.m. New members are always welcome and can contact Dawn Harper on 385-4141 for further details.
