Pair who made Connelly's eyes water to visit

"New York, London, Ohakune' headlines the publicity material for the Topp Twins who arrive in 'San Fran 'Kune' this week. The small-town visit follows another international year of touring, and direct from sell-out seasons at the Melboume International Comedy Festival and the Perth Inter-

national Festival of the Arts. Since May last year the Topp Twins have performed at music and comedy festivals in Scotland, England and America; released a brand new album "Two Timing" in North America; entertained on a cruise liner from the Big Apple to Montreal; and were commissioned by a London theatre to write and produce a new show for the popular Christmas season. The show ran for six weeks and received Critics' Choice reviews by such mainstream British press as The Independent and The Observer. The highlight of their tour, the twins say, was making Billy Connelly laugh so much in the audience at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, that he returned the next day with a huge bouquet of lilies. 'The biggest, most beautiful bunch of flowers we've ever seen and the best publicity you could hope for." The buzz is certainly spreading about New Zealand' s ever-popular twins from being picked as "one of the treats of the fringe" to Critics' Choice for Comedy at the Perth International Festival, the Topp Twins' international star is ascending. In July the Topp Twins return to North America where they will perform at the Old Time Country Music Festival in Avoca, Iowa, and at other folk festivals in

Canada. "New Zealand' s finest artistic export since lamb cutlets" (Glasgow Herald) for their only Ohakune show this year. The "verbally advantaged sisters with attitude will seduce you with song, laughter and wit" — so says the publicity material. They play Hot Lava on Friday 1 6 June.
