• Ohakune Police, Raetihi Fire Brigade and ambulance services attended a two-car collision that occurred approximately five kilometres north of Raukawa Falls Store on 2 June 1995. The crash occurred shortly after 8am, when a northbound vehicle turning from a driveway collided with a south-bound vehicle. The driver of one of the vehicles was taken to Wanganui Hospital with suspected chest injuries. State Highway 4 was closed for a short time while both vehicles were removed. • Police arrested a man during the attempted burglary of a Mangarewa Road, Ohakune, residence on 3 1 May. The offender was disturbed by the owner of the house and arrested a short time later. He appeared in the Taihape District Court last week charged with burglary. • A Raetihi man was arrested on Sunday 28 May for the unlawful possession of a firearm. The weapon was confiscated by Police. The man will appear in the Ohakune District Court on Thursday 15 June. • Police are concerned at the big jump in incidences of theft and burglary in and around Raetihi township at present. Raetihi Police attended over a dozen complaints of theft from dwellings and theft from locked vehicles in the past two weeks. A number of incidents involved unoccupied holiday homes that were entered some time over a period of weeks. Police remind residents to lock premises and vehicles when unattended, to take especial notice of any suspicious persons or activity in their respective neighbourhoods and to notify Police immediately. • Three juveniles were spoken to by Police in relation to shoplifting from the premises of Ruapehu Farm Supplies in Seddon Street, Raetihi, last week. The three were accused of stealing two pairs of boots and a hammer. They were stopped by staff and later dealt with by Police.
