Raetihi junior schoolboy rugby

The Raetihi midgets lost to Taihape right on full-time 1 5-20. A T Lynch was player-of-the-day . Gordon Thomas was most-improved. The Juniors lost 15-5 to Taihape. Players-of-the-day were: Nick Kavanagah, three points; Francis Hutchings, two points; Ricky Pearce, one point. For the Intermediates it was the most critical game of the season. Raetihi needed the win to be on the top of the competition. Raetihi started strongly and dominated the first-half scoring three tries to one. Taihape came back strongly again after half-time and had Raetihi down 25-18 with 15 minutes remaining. A big Raetihi effort saw Raetihi score two tries with the winning try right on fulltime. So it was a win to Raetihi 27-25. Tries: Matt Ta, two; Frazer Hammond, two and a conversion; Purity Rose, one. Player-of-the-day Frazer Hammond. Most-improved Cory Carmichael and Joel Corbett. Raetihi Seniors showed their team spirit was still alive on Saturday in a convincing win over Taihape. The forward pack showed their dominance throughout the game with good driving, rucking and mauling to maintain possession. Raetihi's gentle giant, Fabian thrilled supporters and parents and gave his team a boost as he made his way over the line for a good try. Jonathan Kim showed his usual consistent effort in helping to push over three tries. George Williams put in a few well-positioned kicks and took advantage of the wind late in the game. The Raetihi team showed good tackling skills throughout the game coming out with a win of 41-10. Taihape didn't score in the second-half. Rangi Ruke kicked three good conversions. Tries were: Shaun Dobbs, two; Ivan Hall, two; Fabian Marumaru, one; Sam Arahanga, one; Richard Carmichael, one. Most-improved-player was Cory Brown.
