$400,000 profit for council firm
Ruapehu Construction Limited made a pre-tax profit for theninemonthsto31 March 1995 of$402,lll,leavingthe Ruapehu District Council "very pleased that its decision to form a LATE (Local Authority Trading Enterprise) was the correct one," according to deputy mayor Graeme Cosford. He said the council "now owns a viable business which is contributing significantly to its income". "The company is maintaining a competitive edge in the contract business with 80 per cent of its tumover coming from competitively priced contracts for both the Council and other principals — the balance of work being at negotiated prices with the council," said Mr Cosford.
