Dog owners' "lack of responsibility" in registering their animals in Waiouru appals the town's dog ranger and RSPC A contact, Gail Larsen. Since January nine dogs from Waiouru have been put do wn because they were found unregistered and roaming. More to the point, dogs were destroyed because their owners, for whatever reason, made no effort to find them oncethey

"It never hurts to continually question if what is being done is the best." He stressed that there had been no move from within Ruapehu to seek an amalgamation.

really haven't given it any thought. We'd need to see very good reasons and some distinct advantages if we were to amalgamate, however."
