Waimarino Golf
Last weekend the Waimarino Golf Club ran it's annual 72 hole tournament with a field of 92 tee off in the qualifying round on Saturday morning. Entries came from as far away as Whangamata and Levin to play in what has been described by one Levin player as "One of the main events of the year". Special mention should be made at this point for two players from our club. First, Barry Drinkwater who fired a 74 on Saturday moming to qualify in fourth place, shooting the best round of his career, and second to Gary Creedy who won the tournament showing that he is one of the top amateur golfers in this district. Saturday afternoon the players were graded on their
mornings performance and the rest of the weekend was played on match play. The open, which was made up of the top eight qualifiers played all matched off the stick (no handicaps involved) while the remaining 84 all played off their club handicaps. The club wished to thank all there committee and non committee members who helped to make the weekend such a success. T rophies: Open Champs: winnerG.
