Ohakune Rugby come back

Ohakune Karioi' s senior rugby team came back with a big improvement this week showing they were determined to put more commitment into their game, winning 43:15 against Waiouru. This puts them at the top of the table in the Northern Wanganui Championships. The tisht five of Mike Wills, Mark Thompson. Gavin

Hudson, Dan Dawai and Joe Cocabusa set the platform for the winning ball. Mark Thompson hooker and Mike Wills prop, in particular held the opposition at bay for a good part of the game. Waiouru fought back well in the second part of the first half and actually led at the break by 15 - 1 1 . The replacement winger, Johnny Hotorangi, and skills of Brent Sturm, who played on the opposite wing from Hotoranei, keot Ohakune on their toes. this toeether with

the strength of the combination of Cocabusa and Dawai made things difficult for Waiouru to

penetrate. It seemed to be one way traffic for Ohakune with the backs running well putting pressure on Waiouru to the point where it was probably fair to say, that their weakness showed through in bad passes and it was this area of play that let them down. The final score Ohakune 43, Waiouru 15. Ohakune's points came from 5 tries
