Over the past week or so various activities have taken place, leading with the victorious win by 53 students who | successfully competed in the regional finals of the t Smokefree Stage Challenge in Palmerston North. Junior Speech Finals On Tuesday 2 May, the Junior Speech finals took place. Fine delivery of many new and exciting topics including Ohakune in 2005, kept audience and judges awake. Judges Mrs S Murdie, Mrs J O'Sullivan and Mr G Fountain had to make a difficult decisions but first place was awarded to Ei Leen Voon with her speech 'The Outer Image'. Jenny Cresswell was placed second, with her extraordinary speech 'Nothing' . Steven Sue followed closely in third place with 'Violence on Television'. Fourth equal placings were awarded to Margaret Mowat with 'The Things We Take for Granted' and Danley Vince with his highly visual 'Art of the Taiaha'. Senior Speech Night Thursday 5 May, saw the Senior Speech night held. Again the judges were faced with a difficult decision but first place was awarded to Sandra Smith, with 'A Slice of Life'. In second place was Vanessa Parker with 'A Truly Gross Era'. Third place was shared by Tonia Lumsden's

ldeas on What Television is doing to our Minds' and Sarah McKay's 'Beauty Contests'. Rocky Horror Show Wednesday 3 May, over 50 students travelled to Wellington to indulge them-

selves in The Rocky Horror Show. Many students saw this as the perfect opportunity to admire Renee Nafau's amazing body. The show was enjoyed by all. Media Studies Trip Over the last fortnight, two groups of sixth form Media Studies students travelled to Wanganui to take part in a video production course. Students appreciated

the opportunity to use technology otherwise unavailable to them in the shape of sophisticatedediting and titling equipment. Wedding Bells Congratulations and best wishes for many years of marital bliss wereoffered by students and staff to newly-weds Fiona and Derek Fraser who were married on Saturday.
