The Waiouru Information and Commuriity Dropin Centre has developed a programme for the May school holidays. Community Servicfes Officer Michelle Elgar said the programme may be subject to change for some events. The programme so far is: 10 May, Teddy Bears' Picnic in the Waiouru Community Centre. Last year this event was a big hit with the children and Mrs Elgar said the same activities will be available this year. The starting time is yet to be
arranged for the activities which will include rock and face painting, story telling, lolly scrambles and other goodies. A big sheet of paper will be hung up on the wall for children to do hand prints for peace keepers in Bosnia. 15 May a free bus trip to the Manawata Science Centre and Museum is planned. Pre-bookings are essential as numbers are limited to 40. At this stage it is hoped to organise a 1 2 years and over confidence course day. This will be limited to 20 people. Past activities have been
a great success with over 70 people attending the recent farmtrip. "We'll take (as few as) five people on our trips, but it was brilliant to take two bus loads," said Mrs Elgar. She said that things are going really well at the moment with the first two modules completed in the 'bag of tricks' , a course designed to help parents understand and pick up on their children' s feelings. "We hope to run more follow-on modules during the year depending on Reap being able to get facilitators," said Mrs Elgar.
