Turoa Tumblers pledges enthusiasm boost

After a quiet 1994 season, the Ohakune Turoa Tumblers Recreational Gym Club is making a fresh start in 1995, with new coaches and a new session time. Numbers had dwindled to an all-time low at the end of last year, and at the recent AGM the newly elected committee pledged to boost club numbers and enthusiasm. The Tumblers' club session has been changed from Tuesday 3.30-5pm, to 4pm finishing at 5.30pm, with the hope that the later time will fit in with parents' and children' s schedules. Sessions will once again be held at the Ruapehu College gymnasium which boasts

brand new flooring and where an extensive collection of gym equipment is housed. The Club is sending three of its committee members to next month's Wanganui/ Manawatu Junior Introductory Coaching Course, to be held in Wanganui over the weekend 7-9 April. The course which serves as a pre-requi-site to the NZGA National Gymnastic School, teaches participants the fundamentals of gymnastics and focuses on fun as much as fitness and co-ordination. The skills gleaned during this course will then be incorporated into the Turoa Tumblers' Recreational Gymnastics syllabus, catering for children 5-12 years of age.
