Junior Badminton
On 20 March the Ohakune Badminton club were lucky enough to host 5 top N.Z badminton players and coaches. About 30 local players turned up to be entertained with raquet games, skills and a professional demonstration. On 26 March four under -16 girls travelled to Wanganui to compete in the trials. Cathy Cranston won the under 1 6 singles and Katrina Marsh was runher-up, then winning the doubles . Donna Cranston and Eileen Voon played in the boys section with winning the doubles and Donna winning the singles. Fundraising has already begun for local junior rep players with eake and vegetable stalls. The easter egg basket was won by Aaron Young, ticket number 50 the money being raised for trips to Palmerston North, Hawkes Bay, Wellington and Auckland. Local player Donna Cranston is off to Australia on 1 3 April to represent N.Z. Central Districts team against Australian teams.
Junior club night willstart on 27 March 6-7pm followed by seniors 7.30-9pm. All new members welcome. Any other juniors wanting to play reps please contact Jocelyn Cranston.
