Waimarino Golf
Another glorious day greeted the field of 55 starters at the Waimarino Golf Club annual opening day, held Sunday 5 March. Nineteen ladies drew for male partners to play in a greensome foursome tournament, with the remaining 17 men to play four ball best ball. As with tradition, a lady hits the first ball of the new season, and this year Mrs Carol Leary, Ladies club captain, had this honour. Results of the greensome foursome: 1st P Mowatt, G Creedy net 57; 2nd E Rush, P'Goldfinch net 61; 3rd J Carver, R Spry net 62, P Crapp, P Creedy, S Lind, J Hammond; 4th G White, M Sullivan. Fourball: ' lst N Black, R Taoa, 1 1 up; 2nd W Marsh, T Mitchell 1 1 up; M Lloyd, B Henry 9 up; 4th S McGee, R Brown 8 up. Longest Drive: Ladies V Johns; junior: M Hays; seniors: W Marsh. Nearest the pin: Ladies E Rush; juniors M Hays; seniors G Creedy.
