Inter-pretation?

• I was disgusted to read the published letter in the last issue of the Ruapehu Bulletin under the pseudonym of one Prudence Pounder giving the writer's interpretation of the advertisement for screws by one of your advertisers. Such an interpretation had never occurred to me nor I imagine to most other readers (with the exception perhaps of the few with minds akin to that of the writer) until it was spelled out for us by the aforesaid Prudence Pounder. If, as I assume this was intended as a joke then I consider it to be in very poOr taste and I am more than a little surprised that you allowed such a missive to be printed in what after all is a community newspaper. We, as concerned business people and also advertisers in your newspaper fulfilled many orders for gifts of flowers on Saint Valentine's Day sent with thoughts of affection from husbands to wives, from boyfriends to girlfriends and vice versa. None I feel sure with such lurid expectations in mind and I strongly resent the insinuations expressed in that letter. I am well aware that the Editor is not responsible for the opinions expressed by the writer, but I am also aware that he is responsible for the standard and quality of the

material he allows to be printed. A community newspaper is no place for such smutty garbage.
