Variety Bash brings famous to Waiouru

The fifth annual Kelloggs Cornflakes Variety Club Bash will today be in Waiouru. Tomorrow they visit Ohakune and Raetihi. A record 57 pre-1966 vehicles are in the bash this year, driven by celebrities, raising funds for disadvantaged and needy children. Among these celebrities will be All Black Captain Sean Fitzpatrick, entertainer Tom Sharplin and television sports presenter April Ieremia to name a few. Bash itinerary in your area is as follows: After travelling over the Gentle Annie and lunching in Taihape, the bash will move on to Waiouru and arrive at about 4.15pm today (Tuesday). They will be greeted by the traditional water fight courtesy of the Waiouru Fire Station. School children will gather on Patterson Field to welcome the bash, and from 4. 1 5 until about 5.30 fun and games will be provided by the Physical Training Instructors. FROMPAGE1 Waiouru school children with learning disabilities. From there the bash will move on to Helwan Camp to secure the vehicles and set up for the night. Between 6.15 and 7.30pm, bash personnel will be at the Sportsman' s Bar to meet the adults. The bash cars will line up outside Army Training Group Headquarters at about 7 . 00am tomorro w and will leave Waiouru at about 8.45. From there the bash travels through Raetihi and on to Wanganui. After travelling baek up through Taranaki the bash will stay o vernight in T aumarunui on 9 March. The next day is the final day and the finish will be at The Grand Chateau, Tongariro National . Park. champion rower Brenda Lawson, athletics great John Walker and a host of bigname rugby players, including Sean Fitzpatrick, Jonah Lomu, Stu Wilson and Terry Wright.
