Radio winners take on Army adventure

This past weekend now holds some special memories for two Palmerston North people who won a trip to Waiouru's Army Adventurous Training Centre (AATC). Therese Johnson, a 28 year old mum and Hamish Williamson, a 26 year old builder, were both put through their paces at the centre after winning a 2XS radio competition. Seven men and six women competed for the weekend at AATC by completing the confidence course at Linton Camp. Hamish and Therese had the fastest individual times which meant they were the ones picked to experience a weekend of adventure - army style. The first day began with rock climbing in the Waiouru Gymnasium, then it was time for a spot of abseiling at Moawhango dam. To complete the first day the pair made up their own ten-tube raft and braved the chilly waters and rapids of the Tongariro River. The last day was plotted for the ultimate challenge, the high ropes course in the gym. The high ropes course is basically an aerial confidence course with eight different activities.
