Sports day for Karioi
The popular Karioi Sports Meeting, held at the Karioi Domain, is on again this Saturday with a wide range of novel events planned. Admission to the meeting, which starts at 9.30am, is free. The emphasis is on fun, with horse events, fat lamb competitions, athletics "for all", children's whether riding, lolly scramble, height and weight guessing, tossing the sheaf, nail driving, golf putting and children's games. Refreshments are to be for sale at the grounds. Horse events include children's events; lead classes events such as a biscuit race, sack race, school pony, musical sack, and orange race. There is also a novelty shepherd' s event which includes a boot race, rescue relay, and pacers' walking race.
