Global mission to be witnessed in Waiouru
Waimarino and Waiouru Christians are planning to take part in a 'global mission' with the American evangelist Billy Graham next month. The aim is to see 600 people attending each of the three evenings of the mission, to be held 16-18 March. All local denominations met recently to plan the event which will see Christians gather at the Waiouru Army Training Group Camp cinema to experience the worldwide presentation via a full sized cinema screen. They are working closely with the Military Christian Fellowship, Waiouru Camp chaplains and staff at the camp in preparation for the event, which will see New Zealand linked to 'Global Mission '95' by satellite. The publicity material for the event states it "may be the greatest evangelistic outreach in the history of the church". "An international programme will be beamed via satellite from a stadium in San Juan, Puerto Rico, to thousands of locations in about 180 countries, with an estimated audience of over 200 million people," states the press release.
