Customer service is focus of course
The Ruapehu region has a new Kiwi Host course leader who plans to increase the standard of customer service in the area through the Kiwi Host programme. (See story above). Kiwi Host is a basic oneday introductory course in the visitor/tourism industry, focussing on customer service. It is aimed at creating a nationally-recognised entry level quality service training for service providers and the general public, shifting service providers' attitudes towards the importance of the visitor industry to New Zealand's economy, and obtaining a personal~commitment to service professionalism and pride in being a Kiwi Host. It is a one-day course which includes a participant's workbook and review exercise. Successful completion of the course
and exercise entitles the participant to wear the Kiwi Host badge, as well as recieving a qualifying certificate. Businesses which
have more than 60 per cent of their staff trained are entitled to become Kiwi Host businesses, thereby benefitting from free adver-
tising through the published listings of Kiwi Host businesses, and from their trained staff. Course costs are (valid to
1 March) $65 per head for Ruapehu South Business Association members and $85 per head for non-mem-bers. Those interested can telephone David Squires 06 385 4399 for more information The Kiwi Host family of courses includes: Super Service for extended fol-low-on from Kiwi Host to give "Knock your socks off ' service to bring the customer back, and Kiwi Host for managers - giving managers and supervisors the skills to create a service environment and encourage staff to use their customer service skills from Kiwi Host.
