Editorial league licence

• The "League vs Union" heading of my last letter was not my choice. My heading was 'a professional approach". You did not find this suitable. Why not I wonder? Is it my imagination or do I detect a subtle form of prejudice? If having editorial licence means it' s okay to completely distort my letters then I say revoke that licence now. Never mind - my letter was reproduced in an entirely satisfactory manner in the Wanganui Chronicle.

EDITOR REPLIES: Your letter' s reproduction was reproduced in a satisfactory manner in the Ruapehu Bulletin. As with all editors, I reserve the right to abridge or decline letters-to-the-editor. The choice of heading does not show any prejudice. It was chosen because it more accurately indicated to the reader what they could expect to read about ('A professional approach', as a heading, gave no clue as to what the subject of your letter was). Y our statement that your letter was completely distorted is an exaggeration as the only changes were to remove information that would have been more appropriately published as advertising. We have regularly published rugby league news in the past and we look forward to publishing more in the future.
