Shannon Goodman and Warren Bigwood of Taumarunui prepare the ground forlaying the long awaited, long debated, (but not long enough?) Tainui Street footpath. Residents and Ruapehu College folk have been calling for the upgrade for several years, saying it was essential for safety reasons. However the Bulletin was puzzled to see that the path stops about 50 metres short of meeting the path on the other side of the road, near the netball courts. We weren't able to contact the council to hear their reasons for the strange decision -- we'll keep you posted.
