Public excluded

A move to exclude the public from Ruapehu District Council discussions on a proposed recycling project was challenged by Cr Bob Peck at last Friday' s council meeting. Mr Peck said he was under the impression the matter was to be openly debated by the council when he was asked to consider whether the community boards should be asked to consider the proposal. Council chief executive Cliff Houston said it was not advisable for the council to discuss the matter openly as the proposal contained "information on attributes of a company".
