Raetihi's 100 years of learning

In 1996 Raetihi Primary school will celebrate their centennial. Plans by the centennial committee are well underway for this special occasion and dates are being considered with the preferred option being Easter. Over the course of three days there will be a host of festivities: decade photos on display; a social evening of whirling, twirl-

ing and eating and a combined lunch and sports-time. To mark the centennial appropriate formalities will include a powhiri, cake-cutting, tree-planting, a church service and closing ceremony. Some suggestions under consideration include bus tours of the district, helicopter rides, courtesy buses to motels, classes set up as museums and badges made as momentos of the day.
