Ohakune Primary School I have read continually throughout the last 12 months about how bad the school is and that no-one can get any information from the school. On Thursday 8 November 1 994 there was a public meeting held to report back to the parents on the school management and strategy for teachers and pupils alike for the coming years. The teachers and board had put a lot of work and effort into having all those reports finished in time for the meeting. I was absolutely appalled to see that after all the concern and ridiculq that has been published in your paper over the year that there wereonly

eight parents present. If these parents were so concerned about the teaching of their children then they should have shown their concem by showipg up at the meeting and seeking the answers to the problems they seem to have with the school. If not they should just shut up and let the teachers get on with what they are there for - to teach the children. I thinkit is time we started working with the teachers to get our children the best possible education possible instead of working against them. I think they all deserve a big pat on the back because I do not envy them their job at all. Friend of the School.

Outstanding effort • Congratulations to the local team behind the restoring of the Ohakune Memorial gates on Clyde Street. Chick Norris for his hard task of painting and sanding over the past few days while Ohakune was experiencing the heatwave; John Schrier who water-blasted and prepared the gates; Noel Shepherd for his time and care on the Roll of Honour; Benchmark and the Ohakune Motor Camp who donated the paint required. It looks great! What a great team of concerned people who take pride in our town. Well done. Alison Thompson, Bob and Colleen Norling Flower power # I'm a sweet little marigold That will not rebound

No matter the soil or what sort or mound. You've planted me innocently One by one without Any protection from The frost or the sun. I'm all gold or yellow In my glory and splendour I guess that's what bought Me to the Council agenda. But here in Raetihi where The climate' s not dandy Try something stronger - - a viola or pansy.
