Waiouru School children have 'adopted soldiers' and over 200 letters are on their way to New Zealand peacekeepers in Sinai, Somalia, Israel and Bosnia. School Principal Tauri Morgan said the school has made a commitment to keep contact with Waiouru soldiers posted overseas on peacekeeping assignments. At the moment about 70 peacekeepers from Waiouru camp are overseas. "It's good value on both sides," said Mr Morgan. "The children become aware and the soldiers maintain a link with home." It is anticipated that the children will meet their adopted peacekeeper sometime in the future. New Zealand at present has about 430 troops overseas on peacekeeping and other United Nations rnissions. These soldiers are spread around the world. Some of their Sta-
tionsinclude: Bosnia (259), Somalia (6), Iraq (12), Cambodia (2), Angola (3), Haiti (4), Sinai (25), MiddleEast/ Lebanon (7) and Mozambique (9).
